Alice "Bunny" Arena
Alice "Bunny" Arena, age 83, of Rochester Street, Salamanca, New York died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born April 23, 1930 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Cyril "Buck" and Jane DeGroat Trethewy. She had been married to Mr. Victor Arena, who predeceased her in 1983.
She had been employed as a bartender at the Dudley Hotel in Salamanca, NY and a cook at the former Spinning Wheels Restaurant in Salamanca, NY and at the Cardinal Hills Country Club, Randolph, New York.
Bunny was very artistic and volunteered in painting the backdrops for the Village Players Cattaraugus County Living Arts and the Salamanca School System. Her true joy was her family.
Survivng are: 1 daughter, Shannon (Dennis) Seybert, Limestone, NY; 2 sons, Mark (Debbie) Arena, LaGrange, Georgia, Cass (Connie) Arena, Salamanca, NY; a long time friend, James Nolan; 16 grandchildren including Adam (Mayra) Arena and Cassandra Arena whom she raised; 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Charles (Carol) Trethewy; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Arena, two sisters, Audrey Costa and Holly Frances Trethewy, and one brother, Bill Trethewy.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 3-5 p.m. in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
