Mrs. Barbara A. Fordham, age 75, of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York died early Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Henrietta, New York following a long illness.
Born on September 26, 1934 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Michael and Clara Biss Poydock. She was married in St. Patrick’s Church, Salamanca, New York on August 4, 1956 to Mr. Gerald Fordham who survives.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1952.
Mrs. Fordham had been employed with the Erie Railroad and the Salamanca Press.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Newman’s Reading Circle, the Mr. & Mrs. Club, and the Phi Beta Epsilon Sorority. She was an avid gardener and she collected dolls and antiques.
Surviving besides her husband are: a daughter, Judith Herlihy, Henrietta, New York; 3 sons, Gerald (Collette) Fordham, Tucson, Arizona, Daniel (Kristina) Fordham, Peru, New York, James Fordham, Charlotte, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Wiley, 3 sisters, Sister Marcella Poydock OLVM, Theresa Cooney, Elizabeth Tracy, and a brother, Robert F. Poydock.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Tuesday from 4 – 7 P.M.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church on Wednesday at 10 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Olean General Hospital or Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
