Daniel R. Keller

Mr. Daniel R. Keller, 88, of Ambuske Street, Salamanca, NY died Friday afternoon, November 16, 2018 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born March 22, 1930 in Salamanca, he was the son of the late John and Thelma Broderick Keller. He was married December 27, 1952 in Little Valley to the former Dolores Frenz, who survives.

He attended Salamanca High School.

Mr. Keller was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Basilone and the USS Caperton touring throughout the Caribbean.

He had been employed with National Fuel Gas as a pipe fitter for over 32 years, retiring in 1985. He had also been employed with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff from 1972-1984. He served as an auxiliary policeman with the City of Salamanca for 45 years, retiring in 2011.

He enjoyed spending time his family, especially his children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed turkey hunting and fishing. He coached SYA football and enjoyed competition sports.

Surviving besides his wife are: two daughters, Kathryn (Jack) Issertell, Buckeye, AZ, Karla (George) Liner, Havelock, NC; a son, Daniel (Brenda) Keller, Willard, NY; a granddaughter, Anna (Robert) Johnson, Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Kristopher (Michelle) Addison, Richland, GA, Daniel A. (Caity) Keller, Salamanca, NY, Kyle (Lacey) Keller, West Valley, NY; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Johnson, Charlotte, NC, Johanna Keller, Salamanca, NY; two great-grandsons, Kolt and Barrett Keller, West Valley, NY; a sister, Mary Ann (Theodore) Dry, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, John D. Keller.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Monday from 11 am - 1 pm.

Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
