Debra Sargent

Debra Sargent, 63, of Salamanca, NY died Friday, February 2, 2024 at Buffalo General Hospital following a short illness.

Born March 11, 1960 in Springville, NY she was the daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte Kelley Dalaba and Merle Kenyon. She was married March 11, 2002 to Duke Sargent, who predeceased her in 2015.

She was a graduate of West Valley High School, Class of 1978.

Debra had been employed with the Seneca Allegany Casino, Salamanca, NY, Stride Tool, Salamanca, NY, the former Bush Industries, Little Valley, NY, and the former Highland Plastics, Salamanca, NY.

She was a member of the Center Street Baptist Church, Salamanca, NY. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending family gatherings. She also enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, shopping, playing scratch-offs, and was an avid card player and reader.

Surviving are: four children, Shawn (Heather) Lafferty, West Valley, NY, Tanya (Rodney) Terhune, Salamanca, NY, Daniel (Amber) Lafferty, Salamanca, NY, Daniel McCoy, TX; eight granddaughters, Courtney Demond, Salamanca, NY Mailyn Demond, Olean, NY, Audrianna (Xavier) Anthony, Rochelle (John Ling) Bish, Morgan (Brandon Gardener) Brush, Kaylee Demond, all of Salamanca, NY, Emma Lafferty, Katie Lafferty, both of West Valley, NY; four grandsons, Travis (Olivia Fellows) Demond, Drake Terhune, Donovan Terhune, Payton Lafferty, all of Salamanca, NY; three great-grandchildren, London, Ember, and Lucas; four brothers, Dale (Christina) Kelley, Salamanca, NY, Henry (Pam Estabrooks) Dalaba, Kill Buck, NY, Ralph (Jen) Dalaba, Little Valley, NY, Bruce (Rebecca Danser) Kenyon, Olean, NY; several nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, and cousins; dear friends Daniel L. Lafferty, Salamanca, NY, Don (Karen) McChesney, Boston, NY; and many other special church friends.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Sharon Dalaba, Carolyn Freyburger, Virginia Dalaba, Susan Hanson, two brothers, Lynn Kenyon, Jerome Kenyon, and a niece, Miranda Felt.

Memorial visitation will be held at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4 – 7 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held downstairs at the Holy Cross Club, 35 Clinton Street, Salamanca, NY 14779 on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11 - 4.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Center Street Baptist Church, 443 Center Street, Salamanca, NY 14779.
