Delores "Dee" Bowen

Mrs. Delores “Dee” Bowen, 78, of Steamburg, New York died Thursday (September 3, 2009) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, PA

Born March 15, 1931 in Onoville, New York she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Cynthia Jimerson. She was married to Robert (Bob) Oldsheild who predeceased her. On July 28, 1990 she married Ralph Bowen who survives.

She was a graduate of the Mount Echo Bible institute in Humphrey, New York.

She was employed for over 20 years at Acme Electric in Olean and Cuba prior to her retirement.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians belonging to the Wolf Clan, Red House Memorial Chapel where she had taught Sunday school for years. Was a very loving mother and grandmother and was well known for her corn husk dolls and beadwork some of which are displayed in the Smithsonian institute in Washington D.C.

Surviving besides her husband are one son, Bill “Butch” Oldshield, Steamburg, one daughter, Wendy Oldshield, Salamanca, NY, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 step daughters, Jacqueline Bowen, Jimerstown, New York, Rebecca Bowen, Jimersontown, New York, one step son, Dennis Bowen, Tuba City, Arizona; 2 sisters Ruth Bova, Steamburg, New York, Colleen Frailey, Steamburg, New York; one brother Vernon “Barney” (Carol) Jimerson, Port Charolette, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by a son Robert “Tom” Oldshiled, 3 sisters, Roseine Mohawk, Vera Baker, and Eleanora Bova Bowen, 2 brothers, Wilber Jimerson and Fredrick Jimerson.

Friends may call on Saturday from 7 -9 P.M. and Sunday from 2 -4 & 7-9 P.M. at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home 25 River Street Salamanca, New York. Funeral services will be held on Monday (September 7, 2009) at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home followed by services at 11:00 A.M. in the Red House Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg New York.

Family suggests memorials to the Red House Memorial Chapel.
