Dixie Lee Terhune

Ms. Dixie Lee M. Terhune, 81, of Salamanca, NY, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY following a short illness.

Born May 1, 1939 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of the late Russell Meacham and Nina Waite Pond.

She was a graduate of Little Valley High School, Class of 1957.

Ms. Terhune had been employed as a nurse’s aide for the former Salamanca District Hospital for over 25 years. She performed in home nursing care throughout the Salamanca area.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader and a member of the Red House Memorial Chapel, Jimersontown, NY.

Surviving are: three daughters Kimberly Dorman, Cattaraugus, NY, Bethann (Robert Barber) Sanford, Salamanca, NY, Amy Sanford, Kill Buck, NY; a son Joseph Terhune, Salamanca, NY; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; a sister, Judy Oaks, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Lisa Rohwer, a granddaughter, Rachel Aldrich, a brother, Terry R. Meacham Sr. and a sister, Deanna Meacham.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
