Dorothy "Dot" Crist
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Crist, age 87, of Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday evening, March 31, 2010 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.
Born on January 6, 1923 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Frank & Mary Myers Solarek. She was married on November 14, 1945 In St. Patrick’s Church, Salamanca, New York to Mr. Charles “Bud” Crist who survives.
Mrs. Crist worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Store, the former J. J. Newberry’s Store, and the former First Trust Union retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, it’s Altar & Rosary Society, Mr. & Mrs. Club, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Auxiliary, Friday Bowling League, and Monday Bowling League. She enjoyed knitting.
Surviving besides her husband are: 3 sons, Richard (Julie) Crist, Jamestown, New York, John (Debra) Crist, Salamanca, New York, Chuck (Patti) Crist, Jamestown, New York; 2 daughters, Diane (James) Kochaniec, Jane (Wayne) St. John, both of Salamanca, New York; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers, William Solarek, Edward Solarek, Leonard Solarek, 2 sisters, Elizabeth Chavez and Florence Solarek.
There will be no visitation.
Friends may attend a memorial mass on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
The family suggests memorials to Chautauqua Blind Association, 510 West Fifth Street, Jamestown, New York 14701 or the donor’s choice.
