Mrs. Elaine R. Bucktooth, age 83, of Center Road, Jimersontown, New York died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Bradford Manor in Bradford, PA following a long illness.
Born July 16, 1931 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Abby Martin Gibson. Mrs. Bucktooth was married on June 18, 1949 in Syracuse, New York to Mr. Floyd Bucktooth Jr. who predeceased her on September 28, 2009.
She was an enrolled member of the Onondaga Nation of Indians and the Eel Clan.
Mrs. Bucktooth had been employed with the Seneca Nation and had previously been employed for over 10 years with the former Fancher Furniture Company.
She had attended the Jimersontown Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed RVing with her late husband as well as working puzzles.
Surviving are: a daughter Ernestine Sunderlin, Jimersontown, NY; a son, Floyd (Corliss Abrams) Bucktooth III, Steamburg, NY; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Marvin) Sunderlin Cooper, Erica Bucktooth, Erin Bucktooth, Ernest Bucktooth, Fletcher Bucktooth, Stevie Rae Bucktooth, Cory Bucktooth, Regis Bucktooth, Jerome Bucktooth, Jeremy Bucktooth; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Leticia “Tish” (Louie) Antone, London Ontario, Canada, Edith “Dolly” Thomas, Syracuse, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 sons, Fletcher Bucktooth, Ernest Bucktooth Sr., Eric Bucktooth,3 grandsons, Raymond Sunderlin Jr., Robert M. Sunderlin, Floyd Bucktooth IV, 4 brothers, Calvin Gibson, Donald Gibson, Ambrose Gibson, Mark Gibson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Seneca Nation AIRFD Fire Hall in Jimersontown, New York.
Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Jimersontown, New York.
