Esther M. Roff

Esther M. Roff, 93, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Salamanca, NY died Sunday morning, June 11, 2023 at the Edna Tina Wilson Nursing Home in Rochester following a long illness.

Born May 31, 1930 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Dominica Speroni Rapacioli.

She was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a Second Lieutenant Air Nurse in Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Esther was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, travelling, and watching local sports, especially St. Bonaventure basketball.

Surviving are: a daughter, Theresa (Richard) Giraulo, Rochester, NY; two grandsons, David Schamberger, Fairport, NY, Eric Schamberger, Lexington Park, MD; a brother, Dominic Rapacioli, Salamanca, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Vesneski, Bernadette Rapacioli, and four brothers, John Rapacioli, Peter Rapacioli, Joseph Rapacioli, Bill Rapacioli.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 5 – 8pm.

A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Parish at 10am with Rev. Dennis Mancuso, Pastor as celebrant.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Esther suggested memorials be sent to St. Vincent DePaul RC Church, 109 East Prince Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144.
