Etta M. Blakely

Mrs. Etta M. Blakely, 93, died early Saturday morning, August 18, 2018 at the Pines Health & Rehab, Olean, NY following a long illness. She had resided in the Salamanca area for over 35 years.

Born November 26, 1924 in Silver Creek, NY, she was the daughter of the late L. Walter and Hazel Bishop Carr. She was married December 20, 1953 in Silver Creek to Mr. Claude L. Blakely, who predeceased her in 2001.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, music, and playing the piano. She loved to travel.

Mrs. Blakely had been a member of the Salvation Army, Valley View Christian Assembly, Order of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter 162, Salamanca Senior Center, and AARP.

Surviving are: three sons, John (Sally) Blakely, Great Valley, NY, James (Nancy) Blakely, Little Valley, NY, Charles (Darleen) Blakely, Midland, ON, Canada; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Mott and Dorethea Hall.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, PO Box 221, Little Valley, NY 14755.
