Eva Poole

Eva M. Poole, 92, of Jamestown, N.Y., formerly of Salamanca, died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Jamestown, N.Y.

Born January 8, 1925 in Salamanca, N.Y., Eva was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Adelaide Thompson. She was married on May 23, 1945 to Harry S. Poole, who predeceased her on April 24, 2007. She is also predeceased by her son, James R. Poole, who passed away on April 11, 2011.

Eva was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Salamanca, N.Y.

Eva was a wonderful homemaker. She loved her home and always enjoyed having friends stop by and also loved putting together family gatherings there where she would cook and bake for days ahead of time to make a feast for everyone who came.

The most important thing to Eva was her family, to whom she showed great love and care. She exemplified strength and love that carries on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bowler who won many tournaments with her teams. Eva taught herself to play the organ and loved to sing and have everyone join in. She also had great love for her beloved pet dogs, gardening, "chocolate", and having a good laugh with friends and family. She was a strong woman with a heart of gold and a took such wonderful care of her husband prior to his death. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a son, William "Butch" (Jeanne) Poole, Jamestown, N.Y.; two daughters, Pamela (Ted) Vreeland, Tampa, F.L., and Barbara (William) Weiss, Savona, N.Y.; twin brothers, Donald Thompson and Dean Thompson and a sister, Ann Conner, all of California; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the SPCA.
