Frederick J. Hook
Mr. Frederick J. Hook, age 74, of Hardscrabble Road, Killbuck, New York died early Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on June 20, 1937 in Manhattan, New York, Freddie was the son of the late Fred & Julia Larkin Hook. He was married on May 24, 1969 in New York City to the former Kathleen McCabe who survives.
Mr. Hook was employed for over 30 years with Otis Elevator Company in New York City retiring to Killbuck, NY in 1995. He was an honorary member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local #1, in New York City. Freddie was very proud of his affiliation with Local #1 and was a true Union Brother.
After residing on Staten Island for over 25 years, he and his wife moved to Killbuck following his retirement. Freddie loved his life in Killbuck, especially those friends he made after his retirement. An avid walker, he was known to walk about 5 miles a day. He also loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Mr. Hook was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Salamanca, New York.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 daughters, Jeanette (John) Capillo, Monmouth County, New Jersey, Arlene (John) Bruen, Rockland County, New York, Jacqueline (Daryl) Hooker, London, England, Karen Ann Hook, Staten Island, New York; 2 sons, Stephen Hook, Staten Island, New York, John (Nicole) Hook, Rockland County, New York; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jean Quattrone, Salamanca, New York, Joanne Walsh, Salamanca, New York, Rita Fox, Killbuck, New York; a brother, Joseph Hook, Los Angeles, California; several nieces and nephews; 6 sisters-in-law, all who he loved very much.
Freddie was predeceased by a sister, Blanche Hook Marino, 4 brothers, Robert Hook, Edward Hook, Francis Hook, Richard Hook and a daughter-in-law, Katie Logan Hook.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Friday morning at 11 AM with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
