Mr. Gerard Schmitz, age 68, of Ellicottville Terrace, Ellicottville, New York died early Sunday morning, November 4, 2007 at the Absolut of Salamanca, New York following a short illness.
Born on September 21, 1939 in Buffalo, New York he was the son of the late Raymond and Cecilia Vollmer Schmitz. He was married on August 28, 1982 in Chaffee, New York to the former Jacqueline Leckliter who survives.
Mr. Schmitz was an interior/exterior painter for over 25 years owning and operating Artistic Painting, Port Richey, Fla. and he was the prior owner of Smiley's CB of Yorkshire, New York.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife are: 3 daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Young, Tampa, Fla., Ann Butterworth, Lake City, Fla., Theresa (John) Board, Delevan, New York; 3 sons, Joseph Schmitz, Grand Island, Nebraska, Michael Maybee, Tampa, Fla., John Schmitz Ellicottville, New York; a step daugter, Laurie Taber, Perrysburg, New York; 1 brother, Paul Schmitz, Las Vegas, Nevada; a 1/2 sister, Betty Sly, Irving, New York.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Fuenral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Home Care & Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Olean, New York 14760.
