Mr. Guy Patterson, 88, of Jimersontown, formerly of the Cattaraugus Territory, died suddenly on October 29, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital.
Born on June 14, 1928 on the Cattaraugus Territory, son of the late Frank and Edith Crouse Patterson.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation and of the Wolf Clan. He retired from the Operators Local 17, Buffalo, NY as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked for the Seneca Nation DPW for many years. He was an avid gardener who loved the beauty of nature, travel and appreciated the fine arts and antiques.
He was married to the late Lois Marie Parker Patterson, who predeceased him. He is survived by their five daughters:
Diane Linda Williams; her daughters, Marie E. (Scott Snyder) Williams and granddaughter Scotia; Nancy A. Williams and grandson Frank Wolfe.
Patricia Ann Scanlan; her six children, Cheri Lynn (Mark) Nash, their eight children; Cheryl Lynn Curry, her six children; Charles Guy (Jodi) Patterson Scanlan, their ten children; Thomas Scott (Darrelyn) Scanlan, their six children; Darra Lynn Lichy, her two children; Darrell Jay (Raelynn) Lichy, their two children; and five great-grandchildren.
Rosemary Patterson; her three children, Leslie Rachel John and her two children; Spencer “Bonce” Pierce; Rochelle Patterson-Pierce.
Jeanne Patterson; her four children, Jack D. (Courtney) Redeye and their two children; Kailee Redeye and her three children; Patrick C. Redeye; Charles B. Redeye.
Judy Elaine Patterson (Mark Agnew); her four children, Barry E. Snyder III and his six children; Fallon L. (Pat Galante) Snyder and their four children; Guy J. Snyder; Samuel J. Agnew.
He was later with his loving partner, Jacquelyn Bowen and her children, Todd Waite; Kelly Waite and her three children; Sara (Dave) Isaac and their three children. He thought deeply of her father Ralph, brother Dennis, and sister Becky Bowen.
Mr. Patterson was also survived by two sisters, Shirley Kennedy, Versailles, NY; Judy Crawford, Gowanda, NY; a brother, Rex “Duke” (Ann) Patterson, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by three daughters, Jenny John (survived by three children, Robert John, David John, Jason John), Susan Edith Patterson, and Penny Patterson, and a brother, Frank Patterson.
Family and friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 7 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Mark Nash officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gowanda, NY.
