Harold Lounsbury

Mr. Harold Lounsbury, 86, formerly of Humphrey, New York died Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York.

Born July 24, 1929 in Great Valley, New York, he was the son of the late Albert and Gertrude Senear Lounsbury. He was married in 1956 to the former Beulah Vay, who predeceased him on July 26, 1992.

Mr. Lounsbury was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He was employed as a machinist at the former Dresser Clark Industries, retiring in 1991 after 33 years.

Mr. Lounsbury was a charter member of the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are: a sister, Betty J. (Neel) Ditcher, Great Valley, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Dale Lounsbury, Robert Lounsbury, and Lynn Lounsbury.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Lounsbury, pastor of the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.

Full military honors will be held with members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.
