James E. Cole

James E. Cole, 84, of Salamanca, New York, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion, Bradford, PA following a long illness.

Born October 18, 1931 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Edna Pavlock Cole. He was married on June 21, 1952 to the former Jette Passmore, who predeceased him on September 27, 2008.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He had been employed in bridge maintenance at the Erie Lackawanna/Norfolk Southern Rail Road, retiring in 1993.

Mr. Cole was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Surviving are: a son, Don (Josephine Sciotti) Cole, Salamanca, NY; a daughter, Debra (Carson) Waterman, Salamanca, NY; two granddaughters, Casey (Edward) Holtz, Jamestown, NY and Chelsea Cole, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Frank Cole Jr., Joseph Cole, and Robert Cole.

There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Piotr Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
