James M. Brundage

James M. Brundage, age 66 , of 57 Carlton Avenue, Salamanca, New York passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, October 1, 2010 at Buffalo General Hospital after complications from heart surgery.

He was born September 3, 1944 in Duluth, Minnesota a son of the late J. Mahlon and Alice Schneider Brundage. On July 23, 1966 in St. Mary's Episcopal Church he married the former Valerie K. Griffith who survives.

Jim was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1962. He attended Syracuse University and graduated from Alfred State College.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was employed as the General Manager of Salamanca Board of Public Utilities for 33 years prior to his retirement in 2005. He was currently employed as an Engineer at Nussbaumer & Clarke of Buffalo at their Ellicottville office.

He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, having served faithfully as the Senior Warden, Vestry Member, and Children's Church Minister where he was affectionately known as " Grandpa Jim". He served 4 terms with the Board of Education serving as President and Vice President and had recently been reappointed to the Board to fill a vacancy. He was integral in the AdHOC Committee for the recent renovation and expansion of the school building project. He served on numerous statewide and community committees and advisory boards.

Surviving besides his wife are: a son Steven (Sandra) Brundage, Salamanca, New York; 2 daughters, Susan (Darryn) Fiske, Shelley (Gregory) Herrick, both of Salamanca, New York; 4 beloved grandchildren, Emma and Alicia Fiske, Andrew and Jacob Herrick, all of Salamanca, New York; a sister, Lois (Joseph) Niedzwiedski, of Dublin, Ohio, and their sons, Matthew and Grant; a sister-in-law, Tammy Brundage of Cary, North Carolina and her son, Jordan.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Alan Brundage.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Monday from 7-9 P.M. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Peace Parish Church, Broad Street, Salamanca, New York with Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

He was deeply devoted to and an active fund raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1775 Wehrle Drive, Suite 150, Williamsville, New York 14221 (www.cff.org) to which in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory.
