Janice M. Reed, age 72, of 44 Seneca Street, Salamanca, New York formerly of East State Street, Salamanca, New York died early Sunday morning, March 20, 2011 at her home following a long illness.
Born September 19, 1938 in Bradford, PA daughter of the late Allen & Alice Schultz Potter.
Mrs. Reed was a self employed upholsterer and seamstress for over 25 years.
She was a former member of St. Patrick's Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535. She was an avid reader, enjoyed visiting friends and family.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen (John) Collingwood, Salamanca, New York; 4 sons, Michael (Norma) Reed, Ambuske Street, Salamanca, new York, Patrick (Doreen) Reed, Central avenue, Salamanca, New York, Tom (Lisa Kuhaneck) Reed, Killbuck, New York, Donald (Annette) Reed, West Valley, New York; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Potter, Salamanca, new York; a brother, Gerald (Patricia) Potter, Olean, New York; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Roland Potter.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, new York on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 P.M., with Father Michael Lonto of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
