June L. Heron
June L. Heron, 88, of Salamanca, New York died Friday morning, July 24, 2015 at the Absolut at Salamanca, New York.
Born June 11, 1927 in the Allegany Territory, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Florence Redeye Lay.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Deer Clan.
June had been employed as a Registered Nurse at the Olean General Hospital and the Gowanda Psychiatric Center, as well as the Director of Youth Opportunity at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center prior to her retirement.
She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching golf and NASCAR races.
Surviving are: a son, Tyler (Chic) Heron; a daughter, Gloria Heron; seven grandchildren, Tracie (Gordon) Brown, Travis (Dee Lazore) Heron, Donielle (Jason) Heron-Lovell, Tiffany Heron, Rebecca (Mitch) Berger, April (Josey) Pierce, Phil (Heidi) Jimerson; 17 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Franklin, Tyson, Alyson, Madison, Aubrey, Abigail, Travis, Delaney, Tami, Thomas, Misty, Bryce, Josie, Linnea, Leif, Liam; four great-grandchildren, Cecelia, Hiram, Harper, Lyla; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Daniel Heron and David Heron, five sisters, Lillian Kozlawski, Leona Snyder, Lenora DiPasquale, Lois Jimerson, Grace John, and a brother, Calvin Lay.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 4 – 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in the United Missions Cemetery, Cattaraugus Territory, New York.
