Karen M. Owens

Karen Owens, 74, of Kill Buck, NY died Friday, September 29, 2023 at home following a long illness.

Born February 21, 1949 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn Schine Lawson. She was married on January 26, 1979 in Kill Buck, NY to Mr. Duane Owens, who survives.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1966 and attended SUNY Cortland.

Karen had been employed with AVX Corporation in Olean, NY for over 42 years, retiring in 2014.

She was a member of Riverside Chapel, where she had taught adult bible study. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand- and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafts and making jewelry

Surviving besides her husband are: a daughter, Lisa (Bryant) Morrow, Salamanca, NY; a granddaughter, Nevaeh Baker, Salamanca, NY; a grandson, Jordan Johnson, Salamanca, NY; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Johnson, Salamanca, NY; two great-grandsons, Cardell and Jalen Johnson, both of Salamanca, NY; a sister, Carolyn Lawson, Olean, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Lawson III.

There will be no visitation.

Private graveside services were held at Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY with Pastor Ben Good of the Riverside Chapel officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
