Mrs. Katherine Oakes, age 91, of Salamanca, New York died Thursday morning, April 30, 2015 at her home.
Born on February 6, 1924 in DuBois, PA she was the daughter of the late Theodore & Mary Cheabro Blehar. She was married on August 6, 1947 to Mr. Paul Oakes who survives.
Mrs. Oakes was employed as a Machine Operator at Highland Plastics in Salamanca, New York prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and a member of the former St. Patrick’s Church. She loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband are: 2 daughters, Linda Monk, Cortland, New York, Paula Jean (John) Fargo, Alexandria, VA; 2 sons, Dennis Oakes, Salamanca, New York, Michael (Cindy Wilder) Oakes, Salamanca, New York; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Helen Atkins, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Oakes, a grandson, Jason Monk, 6 brothers, Ted Blehar, Joseph Blehar, Stephen Blehar, John Blehar, Stanley Blehar, Jack Blehar, 4 sisters, Stella Vesneske, Pauline Duzen, Mary Bergamon, Dorothy Milligan.
Memorial visitation will be held in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at which time memorial services will be held with Deacon Michael Anderson, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York at the convenience of the family.
