Lawrence K. White

Lawrence K. White, 85, of Salamanca, New York died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Pines Health & Rehab, Machias, New York.

Born May 8, 1930 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Lyman and Audrey Griffith White.

Mr. White served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Soley in the Coral Sea during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He had been employed as a machinist at Otis Steel in Cattaraugus, New York prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are: two sisters, Lorene W. Carr, Buffalo, NY, Verdonna Arnold, Little Valley, NY; several nieces and nephews, including Audrey “Lori” Sharp, Lackawanna, NY, and was a guardian to Barbara Holmes Bargy, of Salamanca, NY.

He was predeceased by a brother, Francis “Clyde” White.

Memorial visitation will be held in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 1 – 2 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Sam Stull, former pastor of the Free Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legions Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
