Leo Wrona

Mr. Leo Wrona, 89, of Central Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at WCA Hospital, Jamestown, New York.

Born August 7, 1925 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Antoni and Katherine Bondura Wrona. On May 9, 1947 in St. Patrick’s Church, he married the former Theresa McMullen, who predeceased him in 1978. On August 28, 1982 he married Helene Labuhn Wojtowicz, who survives.

Mr. Wrona was employed by National Fuel for thirty-four and a half years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club and the Little Valley American Legion Post #531. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in all seasons. He could always be found at his beloved vegetable garden on Bucktooth Run and joyfully gave much of his home-grown vegetables to friends, neighbors, and family. He will always be remembered for helping everyone out. Another of his pastimes was making “Leo’s Turkey Calls”, which he fondly shared with turkey enthusiasts. He was proud of his family heritage and the strong work ethic his parents instilled in him growing up on the farm during the Depression. Many times he could be heard recalling the “Good Ole Days”, a way of life that was much simpler.

Surviving are three daughters: Julie (Norman) Shuster, Gowanda, NY, Mary Kay (Joseph) Shreckengost, and Sandra (Tom) Fellows, both of Little Valley, NY; two sons: Stephen (Lori White) Wrona and Peter (Tracy) Wrona, both of Little Valley, NY; three step-sons: Richard Wojtowicz, Franklinville, NY, Ronald (Tracy) Wojtowicz, Wilmington, NC, Victor (Ann) Wojtowicz, Killbuck, NY; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Anthony Wrona, three sisters: Mary Szall, Pauline Jusko, Alexandra Skiff; two brothers: Anthony Wrona and Edward Wrona.

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
