Lucille Carley

Lucille Carley formerly of East State St., Salamanca, NY, died Friday, Feb 2, 2018 at the Absolut of Salamanca.

Born Dec. 11, 1920 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie Stroud Riley.

She was married in the former St. Patrick’s Church on July 21, 1945 to Mr. Joseph Carley who predeceased her on Dec. 30, 1992.

She was a 1938 graduate of Salamanca High School.

Mrs. Carley had been employed as a legal secretary for Jesse Seymour and Burdette Whipple, a Clerk for Claire Winship in the Salamanca City Clerk’s Office, the Surrogate’s Office in Little Valley and the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections. During WWII, she proudly worked at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo.

She was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Church, Our Lady of Peace Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, former Women of the Moose Lodge No. 62, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes Skiba Post #535, past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the UTU, and the DD500 Club.

Surviving are 3 daughters: Joanne (James) Shernesky of Auburn, NY; Carol (Ned) Armstrong of Laveen, AZ; Cathy Kuhaneck of Little Valley, NY; a son David (Peggy) Carley , Penfield NY ,8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including nephew Jack McClune of Salamanca, NY.

Mrs. Carley was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Ledvina, a grandson Alan Dean, 3 sisters, Teresa Ahrens, Frances McClune and Caroline McClune, 3 brothers, John Riley, Charles (Sam) Riley and Clarence Robinson, Son in law Timothy Ledvina, Son in law Bill Kuhaneck

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 pm.

A funeral service will be held in Our Lady of Peace Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Deacon Michael Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Soule Cemetery in Auburn, NY at the convenience of the family.
