Marcia Slater

Mrs. Marcia S. Slater, age 53 , of Mutton Hollow Road, Great Valley, New York died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at her home following a long illness.

Born on October 21, 1956 in Olean, New York she was the daughter of the late Thomas & Marilyn Hull Ervay. She was married in Olean, New York on November 2, 1974 to Mr. Thomas "Butch" Slater who survives.

Mrs. Slater was employed as a Janitor at Ellicottville School for 6 1/2 years prior to her illness. Previously, she had been employed as a Receptionist at Signore's for 17 years, and as a Waitress at Carsons, the former Spinning Wheel Restaurant, Eddy's, and Cadillac Jack's.

She was a former member of the Great Valley Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary in the 1980's and she had served as president of the Women's Bowling League. She loved camping and boating.

Surviving besides her husband are: a daughter, Tina Smith, Great Valley, New York; a granddaughter, Aana Licht, Great Valley, New York; 2 brothers, Bruce Ervay, Olean, New York, Jeff (Marilyn) Ervay, Hinsdale, New York; a sister, Marjorie (Chris) Carll, Olean, New York; several nieces and nephews; close friends Terry (Chris) Stark, Salamanca, New York.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ronald Mierzwa, pastor of Holy Name of Mary Church, Ellicottville, New York.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Ellicottville, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Kevin Guest House, 782 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203.
