Marguerite "Sue" Magara

Mrs. Marguerite “Sue” Magara, age 75, of Waite Avenue, Salamanca, NY, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Born on September 21, 1936 in Ridgeway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Marguerite Sampson Kinkead. She was married on June 18, 1955 to Mr. Frank Magara who predeceased her on February 1, 2006.

Mrs. Magara was a member of the Salamanca Chapter of theAARP, the Holy Cross Club, and the Salamanca Senior Center. She enjoyed baking, playing bingo, decorating for the holidays, and spending time with her family and friends.She was an avid sports fan, especially the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. She enjoyed attending marching band, color guard, and drum corps competitions. she liked planning her class reunions and going to the monthly luncheon with her classsmates.

Surviving are: 1 daughter, Margie Magara, California; 4 sons, Mr. Thomas (Judy) Magara, Colorado, Mr. David (Patsi) Magara, Salamanca, NY, Mr. Kenneth (Karen Watt) Magara, Salamanca, NY, Mr. Dennis (Stephanie) Magara, Portville, NY; 7 grandchildren, Steven Shoppman, Katie Rollyson, both of Colorado, Annie Magara, Jill Magara, Jay Magara, all of Salamanca, NY, Heather Magara, Shawn Magara, both of Portville, NY; 1 great-grandson, Luke Rollyson, Colorado; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Magara, 2 sisters, Jean Paul, Joan Jennings, and 2 brothers, Jim Kinkead and Jack Kinkead.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Joshua Schallert officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Home Care & Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Olean, NY 14760 or the American Cancer Society.
