Mrs. Marie E. Coyer

Mrs. Marie E. Coyer, age 98, formerly of Cattaraugus, New York and Green Valley Estates, Great Valley, New York, died Wednesday evening, March 18, 2015 at The Bradford Manor, Bradford, PA.

Born December 18, 1916 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith Shafer Bowen. She was married in Buffalo, NY on February 20, 1937 to Mr. Ira Coyer, who predeceased her in 1971.

Mrs. Coyer was employed by Setter Stix of Cattaraugus for over 40 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of St. John’s Church of Cattaraugus, NY and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicottville, NY. She was a member of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter #162 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge #2102. She was an avid bowler and part of the McDonald’s cronies in Salamanca.

Surviving are: faithful caretaker, Marc Phillips; a daughter, Lois (James) Smith, Lehigh Acres, FL; a son, Martin (Lorelei) Coyer, Afton, TN; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Bowen, Berkley, MI; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Raymond Coyer, Aurora, IL; two sisters, Ruth Ablett, Modesto, CA and Anne Baker, CA.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held.

Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, New York. Spring burial services will be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Mary’s School of the Deaf, Juvenile Diabetes, or the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, 1211 Medical Center Dr, Nashville, TN 37232.
