Mary Martin, age 82 of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York died Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York following a long illness.
Born on May 25, 1926 in Oil City, Pa. she was the daughter of the late William and Delia Keating Liddy. She was married on October 7, 1950 to Mr. Robert Martin who predeceased her on June 17, 2008.
Mrs. Martin was employed as a registered nurse at the former Salamanca District Hospital and retired from the Gowanda Psychiatric Center in 1982. She also had driven bus for Archbishop Walsh High School and Athletic Department
She was a member of St. Vincent Nursing Association, St. Patrick's Church, it's Altar & Rosary Society, and the Mr. & Mrs. Club.
Surviving are: 6 daughters, Agnes Donlin, Rochester, New York, Mary (Roger Hudson) Martin, Anchorage, Alaska, Jo Martin, Dallas, Texas, Kitty (Bob Williams) Martin, Denver, Colorado, Peggy Martin, Denver, Colorado, Becky Martin, Rochester, New York; 2 sons, Bill Martin, Ellicottville, New York, Bob (Sue) Martin, Erie, Pa; 3 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Bridgette Eileen Levine, a granddaughter, Becca Martin, a son-in-law, Jim Donlin and a daughter-in-law, Ginger Anderson.
Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 P.M. at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday morning at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Patrick's) with Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Oil City, Pa.
