Muriel Pierce of Great Valley, New York died Friday, January 18, 2008 at her home.
Born on October 21, 1941 in Gowanda, New York she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Maude Bennett John, She was married on September 16, 1961 to the late Nathaniel "Nate" Pierce who predeceased her on February 28, 2007.
Muriel was employed as a secretary for the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home in Olean, New York prior to her retirement.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the Wolf Clan. She served as clerk for the Seneca Nation of Indians from 1982 - 1986, served as tribal councilor from 1982 - 1986, and worked as a health administrator for Lionel John Health Clinic. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in sporting events.
Surviving are: 1 daughter, Suzanne Pierce, Lawtons, NY; 1 son, David Nate "Dee" (Karleen) Pierce, Baltimore, MD; 5 grandchildren, Drew Stevens, Lawtons, NY, Lani Stevens, Lawtons, NY, Shaun Pierce, Baltimore, MD, Gait Michael Pierce, Baltimore, MD; 1 great grandchild, Koy Stevens, Lawtons, NY; 1 sister, Norma (Don) Taylor, JImerstown, NY; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the family home, 6293 Route 417, Killbuck, New York, all day Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at the family home on Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM.
Burial will be in Horseshoe Cemetery, Carrollton, New York.
