Mr. Paul H. Anderson Sr., 70, of Wilson Street, Salamanca, NY, died Monday evening May 14, 2007 at his home following a long illness.
Born July 30, 1936 in Hazlehurst, Pa, he was the son of the late Clifford and Mabel Dippo Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was married April 28, 1997 in Springville, NY to the former Emelie Wilson, who survives.
He was a veteran paratrooper of the United States Army awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He was employed as a carpenter with the NYS Parks and Recreation, working at Allegany State Park for over 20 years, retiring in 1991. While at Allegany State Park he taught carpentry at the YAC camp.
Previously, he worked as a foreman at Fancher Furniture Company.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, and was an avid Willie Nelson fan.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post # 5296, American Legion post 535, Salamanca Holy Cross Athletic Club, former member of Salamanca Moose and Elks club.
He was a former CPR instructor and a recognized blood donor.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters, Julie Poling, Salamanca, NY, Janey Dowdy, Salamanca, NY; 5 sons, Paul (Brandy) Anderson Jr., Oregon, David Anderson, North Carolina, James (Maxeen) Winship, Little Valley, NY, Joel Winship, Killbuck, NY, Eric Winship, Steamburg, NY; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Wednesday May 16, 2007, 2-4 and 1-9 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 17, 2007 in the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Rev. Joshua Schallert of United Congressional Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood cemetery.
