Mr. Raymond Wass, age 58, of Salamanca, New York died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, New York.
Born on December 14, 1955 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of John and Jean Mighells Wass, Salamanca, New York. He was married on April 1, 1978 to the former Marcia Hill who survives.
Ray was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1974.
He was employed as a Merchandising Supervisor for Pepsi for 27 years.
Ray was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club, he was involved in youth sports as a coach for 25 years, and he was Past President of the Salamanca Booster Club. He played slow pitch softball and had played in the Salamanca Alumni football game. He was an avid hunter, Buffalo Bills' and Buffalo Sabers' fan.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are: a daughter, Danielle (Brad) Owens, Salamanca, New York; 2 sons, Jason (Amy) Wass, Salamanca, New York, Tyler (Julia Giszter) Wass, Salamanca, New York; 5 grandchildren, Jax and Piper Owens, Kynleigh and Owen Wass, all of Salamanca, New York, Ray James Wass, Salamanca, New York ; 3 sisters, Judy (Jack) Hill, Salamanca, New York, Wendy Boon, Salamanca, New York, Margaret "Stretch" (Robert) Winney, Ohio; a brother, John (Dawn) Wass, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 11 am to 2 pm at which time funeral services will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
