Robert T. Visneski

Mr. Robert T. Visneski, 88, of East State Street, Salamanca, NY died Monday afternoon, December 18, 2017 at the Olean General Hospital following a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 14, 1929 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Walter Laskowski and Mary Visneski. He was married to his beloved wife of 62 years on August 29, 1955 to the former Ann Schumacher, who survives.

Mr. Visneski was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1948.

He was veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Visneski was employed as a Brakeman with the B & O Railroad. Previously, he had been employed as Sales Representative for the Jewel Tea Company and as a Bus Driver for Head Start.

He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Holy Cross Athletic Club and the American Legion Hughes -Skiba Post #535. He served as a Board Member for the Salamanca Board of Public Utilities. He enjoyed the outdoors and his vegetable garden. He will be remembered for his world-famous spaghetti sauce. He will also be remembered for his kind and gentle heart and his wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving besides his wife are: 3 daughters, Marianne (Mark) Brautlacht, Williamsville, NY, Leisa (Timothy) Hellwig, Dunkirk, NY, Nancy (Daniel) Whitcomb, Walworth, NY; a son, Joseph (Christi) Visneski, Salamanca, NY; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Visneski, Samuel Visneski, Paula Brautlacht, Jennifer Brautlacht, Susan Brautlacht, Madalyn Whitcomb, Thomas Whitcomb, Andrew Hellwig; 3 great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Hellwig, Gabriel Hellwig, Allison Hellwig; a sister, Frances Siperek, Buffalo, NY; a brother, James (Barbara) Laskowski, Rio Verde, AZ; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Peter Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
