Thomas John

Thomas E. John, age 50, of South Nine Mile Road, Allegany, New York died unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 9, 2009 at Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, New York.

Born on February 20, 1959 in Olean, New York he was the adopted son of Dolores Strauch John, Allegany, New York and the late Elmer John. He was married to Candice John who predeceased him.

Mr. John was raised and attended school in Allegany, New York.

He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Seneca Nation Department of Public Works. Also, he was a self employed logger.

Mr. John was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Turtle Clan. He was a free spirit who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a partner in the 280 Campground and he enjoyed watching the river from campsite there.

Surviving besides his adopted mother are: 2 sisters, Sheila Keeves, West Seneca, New York, Jennifer (Henry) Jimerson, Killbuck, New York; 3 brothers, Curtiss (Angie) Jimerson, Salamanca, New York, Timothy (Pauline) Jimerson, Salamanca, New York, Theodore John, Allegany, New York; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; a loving companion, Teri Schaeffer, Allegany, New York.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday morning at 10 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, New York.
