Mr. Vincent S. Arena, age 73, of Central Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Friday, May 11, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born on September 13, 1938 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Roy and Marian Bzdak Arena.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Gainard.
Mr. Arena was employed with Cattaraugus County for over 20 years working at the Refuse Center in Salamanca, New York retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and boating. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar in his band Big Vinny and the Mud Flaps.
Surviving are: 3 daughters, Kathy (Spencer) Jimerson, Front Ave., Salamanca, New York, Mary (Olindo) Eger, Bradford, PA, Vicki Arena, Little Valley, New York; a son, Vincent (Denise) Arena, Great Valley, New York; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose (Donald) Bolles, Great Valley, New York; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Roy Arena.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Tuesday from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. noon at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
