William Keller

Salamanca lost a kind soul last week with the sudden passing of William J. “Bill” Keller. He was 59, and had struggled with heart issues for several years. Known for his generosity, green thumb and utter devotion to family and friends, Bill lost his parents, Shirley Keller Keator and John Donald Keller, far too young, andwas a constant source of support and love to his siblings.

He was born on July 21, 1957.

Bill attended and graduated Salamanca High School, traveling the world working for Dresser-Rand in his early 20s, then returning to his roots in Western New York as a skilled plumbing and heating specialist for Merow Hardware then several Native and local companies. Ever offering a big smile and infectious laugh, Bill was also known to graciously open his home to friends and family in need. Having no children of his own, Bill was a doting uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and kept a home teeming with spoiled pets.

Survived by his sisters Beth Raszkowski of Erie, PA, Lisa Major of North Port, FL, Lori Wilder of Gretna, VA, and brother Rick Keller of Orchard Park, NY, and a special great niece and best friend Hailey Jacobson.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday June 2 at the O'Rouke & O'Rouke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca from 1 - 3 p.m, at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating. A celebration of his life will follow at the American Legion in Salamanca.

Bill Keller’s final wishes would include that donations to Friends of Strays or your local SPCA be made in lieu of flowers.
