Wilma Bridges

Mrs. Wilma E. Bridges, 96, of 218 Academy Street, Salamanca, New York died early Thursday morning (January 1, 2015) at her home.

Born March 25, 1918 on Bucktooth Run, Little Valley, New York she was the daughter of the late Cleon and Emma Frenz Easton. She was married to Mr. Harold Bridges who predeceased her in 1982.

Mrs. Bridges was a graduate of Little Valley High School, Class of 1936

She had been employed as a seamstress for the former A&M Clothing in Salamanca and taught sewing and rug hooking at night school in her home and school. During World War II she worked in the Ford Plant in Buffalo, NY manufacturing war supplies.

Mrs. Bridges enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Was an avid outdoorswoman tending to her garden and traveling to various auctions in the area.

Surviving are one son; William (Judith) Bridges, Sawmill Run, Little Valley, NY, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, one sister Doris Van Sickle, Randolph NY, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by two sons; Thomas Easton Bridges, infant son, three sisters, Phyllis Weaver, Esther Crandall, Marie Winship, and two brothers Richard Easton, Dr. Cleon Easton.

Friends may call on Monday (January 5, 2015 at O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York from 4-6 PM

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gowanda, NY
