Alberta Terhune

Alberta J. Terhune, age 82, of Summit Street, Salamanca, New York went home to be with her Lord early Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York.

Born June 17, 1931 in East Leon, New York, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Edna Geiger Ingersoll. She was married on October 13, 1951 in the Free Methodist Church to Mr. Louis Terhune, who predeceased her on July 7, 1992.

Mrs. Terhune had been employed by Home Care & Hospice, the former Salamanca Nursing Home, the former Fancher Furniture Company and the former Sheble & Woods Woolen Mills.

She was a member of Roberts Memorial Free Methodist Church, Cattaraugus, New York. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, knitting, bowling, and bingo.

Surviving are: a daughter, Sandra (Joseph) Backus, Great Valley, NY; 3 sons, Eugene (Christine) Terhune, Little Valley, NY, Kevin (Kimberly) Terhune, Randolph, NY, Steven (Sharon) Terhune, Cave Creek, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edward (Martie) Ingersoll, Ft. Myers, FL, Bruce (Sophie) Ingersoll, Hornell, NY; 2 sisters, Almeda Jerome, Canandaigua, NY, Patricia Kmety, Jefferson, TX; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Howard Ingersoll and David Ingersoll, and 2 sisters, Sharon Jones and Carol Hartman.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in Roberts Free Methodist Church in Cattaraugus, New York on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.
