Alfred Jones Jr.

Alfred Jones Jr., age 75, of Steamburg, New York died Saturday morning, June 6, 2016 at his home following a long illness.

Born July 26, 1940 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Gladys Fatty Jones. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Kettle Isaac, in 2004.

He was a member of the Onondaga Nation of Indians, Blue Heron Clan, and the Cold Spring Longhouse.

Mr. Jones attended Salamanca High School.

He had been employed for over thirty years with Ethan Allen Furniture Company in Salamanca and Frewsburg, New York, retiring in 1998. He had previously worked at Fancher Furniture Company and Jamestown Table, both in Salamanca.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren compete in various sporting events. He was an avid Bingo player, a faithful Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved his Ford pickup trucks. He enjoyed going to the SNI Library’s coffee hour.

Surviving are: 2 daughters, Janice Isaac, Salamanca, NY, Sheila Jones-Kettle, Jimersontown, NY; 2 sons, Bernie Isaac, Cherokee, NC, David Isaac, Salamanca, NY; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great- and great-great- nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Shelly Lichy, a grandddaughter, Cassianne Marie Jones, 2 sisters, Sylvia John and Suzanne Kettle, and a brother, Raymond Jones.

Friends may call at the family home, 314 North Loop, Steamburg, NY beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing all day Monday.

A Longhouse service will be held at the family home Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.
