Alice Fluent

Mrs. Alice Fluent, age 79, of Hardscrabble Road Killbuck, New York died peacefully at her home Saturday morning (October 17, 2009).

Born February 20, 1930 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Marion and Lillian Bacon Mighells.

Mrs. Fluent was married for over 61 years to Charles Fluent who survives.

She was a former member of the Peoples Methodist Church and was a proud member of S.C.O.U.T. the Killbuck Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Square Circle Club.

She was a sponsor of the St. Labre Indian School and a recognized donor to the Schriner Hospital and Children’s Circus.

She enjoyed her family and was an avid gardener who shared her cuttings, plants and bulbs with many of her neighbors and family members. She was well known for her cooking and baking.

Surviving besides her husband are 4 sons, Thomas (Martha) Fluent, GA, Charles R. Fluent, Salamanca, NY, Joseph (Sandra) Fluent, Allegany, NY, Michael (Carol) Fluent, Salamanca, NY, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, 1 brother Raymond (Otilia) Mighells, Killbuck, New York, a special niece, Christine (James) Freaney, Great Valley, NY.

She was predeceased by 1 sister Nancy Zoccali, 2 brothers, Kenneth Brown and Monte Mighells.

There will be no visitation, a celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the St. Labre Indian School P.O. Box 216 Ashland Montana 59003, the Killbuck Volunteer Fire Company or the Salamanca Ambulance Fund.
