Amelia "Emily" Puda
Amelia "Emily" Puda, age 82, of Front Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Friday, December 21, 2012 at The Pines Rehabilitation Center, Olean, New York.
Born July 11, 1930 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walenty and Antoinette Szech Wrobel. She was married September 8, 1951 in Holy Cross Church to the late Chester Puda, who predeceased her in 2008.
She was employed as a library assistant with the Salamanca Central School System at Seneca School.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Mr. and Mrs. Club, and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Holy Cross Athletic Club. She enjoyed bowling, Bingo, and trips to the casino. She was an avid baker.
Surviving are: 4 daughters, Deborah (Donald) Provorse, Great Valley, NY, Karen (Timothy) Anderson, Salamanca, NY, Donna (George) Wilberg, Sanford, NC, Diana (Joel) Talbot, Salamanca, NY; 7 grandchildren, Shane Provorse, Shannon (David) Fish, Kelly Anderson, Amy (Richard) Rosario, Angela Buckner, Eric (Sara) Talbot, Ryan (Joelle) Talbot; 5 great-grandchildren, Devon, Hali, and Jacob Fish, Elizabeth "Ellie" and Owen Talbot; 1 sister, Eleanore Buknis, Jefferson, OH; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Florence Stefanski.
A Rosary of Christian Hope will be recited in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York by members of the Altar and Rosary Society at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, followed by calling hours from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi officiating.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Peace Parish, Friends of the Pines of Olean, 2245 West State Street, Olean, New York, or the Salamanca Public Library Memorial Fund.
