Anita Oyler
M. Anita Oyler, 90, of Killbuck, New York died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at The Absolut of Salamanca, Salamanca, New York.
Born January 23, 1924 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Harriet Rau King. She was married on June 25, 1949 to Mr. Charles Oyler, who survives.
Mrs. Oyler was a graduate of the University of Buffalo Class of 1945.
She was employed as a Physical Education Teacher at Salamanca Central School, retiring in 1982. Previously, she had taught at Warsaw and Portville. She started the girls' sports programs and coached basketball, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading. She was inducted into the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame.
Mrs. Oyler was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the former St. Patrick's Church.
Surviving are: 4 sons, Douglas Oyler, Great Valley, NY, Charles (Mary Kay) Oyler, Timothy (Lora) Oyler, both of Little Valley, NY, Michael Oyler, Killbuck, NY; 1 grandson, Drew Oyler, Little Valley, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Thomas King and Paul King.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Public Library.
