Annie J. Krause

Annie J. Krause, 90, of Salamanca, NY died Friday, January 5, 2024 at home following a long illness.

Born April 14, 1933 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Alice Chamberlain Hurlburt. She was married November 4, 1952, in Springville, NY to Douglas I. Krause, who predeceased her in 2008.

She attended Ellicottville High School system. She attended school of hairdressing and cosmetology in Olean, NY. After graduating and receiving her New York State License for business, she owned and operated Annie’s Beauty Salon in Salamanca, NY for several years.

She was a former member of Christian Missionary and Alliance Church for many years. She was a founding member of Koinonia Christian Church, where she served as a board member and treasurer. She oversaw children’s programs in both churches. She recently attended Healing Reigns Church. She loved having bible studies in her home and being a blessing to all. She loved music and participating in praise and worship. She lived in Merritt Island, Florida for three years and assisted her daughter Charmaine Reed Stewart with an ACLF, caring for elderly Alzheimer patients in her home.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and making crafts, especially making dolls and stuffed animals for The Country Gift Shoppe, where she worked for several years. She loved spending time with family and church family and prayed that there would be a legacy of faith passed on in ways that would last far beyond her life!

Surviving are: two daughters, Donna (Bernie) LeBlanc, Charmaine Reed Stewart, both of Killbuck, NY; 10 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Constance Klein, Tonawanda, NY, Sherry Davisson, Niagara Falls, NY; four brothers, Paul Slocum, Killbuck, NY, Gregory Hurlburt, Niagara Falls, NY, David Hurlburt, Olathe, KS, James Hurlburt, Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Albert “Buddy” Krause, a sister, Peggy Hurlburt, and three brothers, Tom Slocum, George Hurlburt, and Lee Hurlburt, and a grandson, David Reed Jr.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Healing Reigns Church, 6748 Route 417, Kill Buck, NY 14748 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a Christian charity of the donor’s choice.
