Arthur "Skook" Jimerson
Arthur "Skook" Jimerson, 93, formerly of East Loop, Jimersontown, NY, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Absolut of Salamanca.
Born on December 20, 1917, in Red House, New York, he was the son of the late Luther and Sophia Gordon Jimerson.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with Company E 163rd Infantry during WWII. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Jimerson was employed at the former Fancher Furniture Company in Salamanca, NY, and the Seneca Nation of Indians.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Heron clan, the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535, the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post # 5296, and the Lynwood Senior Center.
Surviving are: one niece, Dawn (Mike) Lichy Priddy, McKees Rocks, PA; three nephews, Dan Lichy, of Jimersontown, NY, Darrell Lichy, of Salamanca, NY, Duane Lichy, of Jimersontown, NY.
He was predeceased by: two sisters, Lillian Jimerson Lichy and Beaulah Jimerson Jones; two brothers, Norman "Juddie" Jimerson and Warren "Uddie" Jimerson; and a nephew, David Lichy.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Ralph Bowen officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, NY.
Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.
