Barbara Carlson
Barbara Carlson, age 86, of Salamanca, NY died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, following a brief illness.
Born November 23, 1931 in Bradford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Morris Larson and Grace Quinn (Edward) Balon. She was married on July 6, 1951 to Mr. Kenneth Carlson, who predeceased her on August 10, 2012.
Mrs. Carlson was employed as a Ward Clerk at the former Salamanca District Hospital. She had also worked as a Desk Clerk at the former Dudley Hotel and as Teacher’s Aide at the former Kill Buck School.
She was a member of the former People’s Methodist Church and the former See-Saws Square Dancing Group. She was a Booster and Chaperone for the former Salamanca High School Marching Band, Winter Color Guard. Also, she was a former Brownie Leader. She enjoyed spending time at her family home in Bingham, PA and loved her dogs, Sophie and Mason.
Surviving are: 4 daughters, Robin Carlson, Ellicottville, NY, Laura (Ronald) Steele, Edisto Island, SC, Diane (Brian) Mahar, Schodack, NY, Michele (Mark) Morrill, Greenfield Center, NY; a son, Stanley Carlson, Salamanca, NY; 6 grandchildren, Shane (Terri) Carlson, East Otto, NY, Philip (Skylar) Carlson, Jamestown, NY, Tyler Morrill, Greenfield Center, NY, Johnathan Murphy, Salamanca, NY, Abigail Mahar, Schodack, NY, Alexander Carlson, Salamanca, NY; a great-grandson, Jude Carlson, Jamestown, NY; 2 sisters, Joan McAndrew, DuBois, PA, Ruth (Ed) Morales, Charlotte, NC.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Julia Carlson.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday from 4-6 p.m., at which time a family service will be held.
Burial will be in McKean County Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Absolut Care in Salamanca and Olean General Hospital for their compassionate care over the past few months.
