Barbara Duggan
Mrs. Barbara Duggan, 86, of Salamanca, NY died May 13, 2021 at the Pines Health & Rehab, Olean, NY following a short illness.
Born January 28, 1935 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Plano Crespy. She was married on August 10, 1957 to Mr. J. Robert Duggan, who predeceased her on March 25, 2010.
She was a graduate of Falconer Central School and SUNY Cortland.
Mrs. Duggan had been employed as Physical Education Teacher at the former Little Valley Central School for 30 years prior to her retirement. Previously, she taught at Starpoint Central School and Franklinville Central School.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and their Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of the Newman Club, Salamanca Historical Society, Salamanca Democratic Committee, and the Salamanca Recreation Committee. She served on the Section VI Athletic Council, was President of the Cattaraugus County Athletic Directors, and was a WNY State Track Official. She was inducted into the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. She enjoyed all sports, including cross country skiing and boating. She especially loved football and was an avid Oakland Raiders Fan. She enjoyed playing bridge in Florida and visiting casinos.
Surviving are: a brother, Frederick Crespy, Westlake, OH; three nieces, Kathy Slodic (husband Kevin), Mentor, OH, Lisa Kochan, North Olmsted, OH, Mary Crespy, North Olmsted, OH; a nephew, Gregory Crespy, Westlake, OH.
She was pre-deceased by a brother, George Crespy.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10am with Rev. Mariusz Sierhart officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blind Association or Our Lady of Peace Parish.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
