Betty J. Cooney

Betty J. Cooney, 83, of the Pines of Olean, New York, formerly of River Street, Salamanca, New York died Sunday (February 24, 2008) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Scheneman Straubing. She was married in St. Patricks Church on February 15, 1941 to Donald C. Cooney SR. who predeceased her on June 13, 1999.

Mrs. Cooney was employed at Bush Industries for twenty years prior to her retirement. She had previously been employed as a manager at the former Outdoor Store and Newberry's in Salamanca, New York.

Surviving are three sons; Donald (Kay) Cooney JR, Olean, New York, Richard (Bobbi) Cooney, Santa Barbara, CA; John W. Cooney, Salamanca, New York, fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren

Mrs. Cooney was predeceased by a daughter Karen Ann Cooney in 1951, and a grandson Donald Cooney III in 1972

There will be no visitation

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York at a time to be announced.
