Betty J. Seitz

Mrs. Betty J. Seitz, age 84, of Bucktooth Run, Little Valley, New York, formerly of Division Street, Salamanca, New York died Thursday evening, July 12, 2007 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

Born July 21, 1922 in Olean, New York she was the daughter of the late Louis and Ruth Phillips Ross. She was married to Martin Seitz who predeceased her on October 31, 1988.

She served as Wave in the United States Navy during WWII.

Mrs. Seitz was employed as a Physical Education Teacher for Salamanca Central School District for over 20 years retiring in 1982.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Salamanca Bridge Club, and was a former member of the Home Bureau. She served as a volunteer for the Interfaith Caregivers and she donated many gift items yearly to the Cattaraugus County Mental Health Department. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating on the Kinzua Reservoir.

Surviving are: a son, Martin Seitz, Bucktooth Run, Little Valley, NY; 2 daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Seitz-Moore, Bucktooth Run, Little Valley, NY; Ann Seitz, Yelm, Washington; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marie Schwab, Allegany, NY, Joanne Paoletto; a brother, Charles Ross, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, William Ross and her step father, Fred Probst.

A memorial service will be held in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York at a time to be announced.
