Betty L. McClure
Mrs. Betty McClure, 85, formerly of Pine Street, Salamanca, NY died Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Pines Healthcare and Rehab Center, Machias, NY following a long illness.
Born on August 6, 1937 in Tonawanda, NY she was the daughter of the late Wilbur & Norma Richmond Hardy. She was married on June 25, 1955 in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ellicottville, NY to Mr. Richard McClure who predeceased her in 2015.
Mrs. McClure was employed in the Salamanca City Clerk’s Office prior to her retirement. Previously, she had been employed at Holiday Valley for over 20 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was very active in the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post #659, Ellicottville, NY. She was very involved in Boy & Girl Scouts.
Surviving are: five sons, Greg (Karen) McClure, Hamburg, NY, Leon (Paula) McClure, Edward (Pamela) McClure, Donald “Doc” (Joy) McClure, all of Salamanca, NY, Dale McClure, Little Valley, NY; a daughter, Debora Seitz, Salamanca, NY; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Robert) Reynolds, MS; two brothers, Jerry (Karen) Holland, Springville, NY, Lyle (Marsha) Holland, Westfield, NY.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Deanna Bridenbaken, Sandy Massey, and a brother, Kenneth Holland.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 3 – 5pm and 7 – 9pm.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11am with Rev. Tom Holland, of the Bemus Point Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Ellicottville, NY.
