Carl L. Polasik

Carl L. Polasik, 89, of Salamanca, New York died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Absolut of Salamanca after a courageous battle with cancer for the past eight months.

Born July 13, 1927 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Lucian and Josephine Zilinski Polasik.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1945.

He had been employed as a type setter at the Olean Times Herald from 1956 until his retirement in 1988. He had previously been employed at the Salamanca Inquirer from 1945 through 1956.

Mr. Polasik was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the Holy Cross Athletic Club, Elkdale Country Club, Salamanca Senior Center, and delivered Meals on Wheels for the past 26 years. He enjoyed taking walks in the woods with his dogs Buddy and Puddles, playing golf, gardening, and making wreaths for the church and family.

Surviving are: a special nephew, Tom Budzinski and two special nieces, Mary Budzinski, both of Salamanca, and Tina Borowiak, Great Valley, NY; several other nephews, nieces and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Betty Polasik, Hornell, NY.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Ann Sipko, Lucille Budzinski, and Marie Griehm, and three brothers, Leo Polasik, Raymond Polasik, and Paul Polasik.

A memorial mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Peter Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Our Lady of Peace Building Fund or Empire Animal Rescue, 2 Fancher Ave, Salamanca, NY.
