Carol Wachter
Mrs. Carol Wachter, age 79, of Great Valley, formerly of Grove Place, Salamanca, NY died Monday evening, September 24, 2018 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born on July 10, 1939 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Esther Smith Dunne Sr. She was married on June 25, 1960 in the former St. Patrick’s Church, Salamanca, NY to Mr. Thomas Wachter who survives.
Mrs. Wachter was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Fancher Furniture for 17 years. She was also employed as a Stenographer and in Concessions at Allegany State Park.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and served on the Bishop’s Committee. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and her friends at the Tuesday night ladies group at Myer’s Hotel. Her passion was cooking and baking for all.
Surviving besides her husband are: 2 daughters, Mary Beth (Dale) Colton, Little Valley, NY, Amy (Greg) Campbell, Hamburg, NY; 3 granddaughters, Kaeli (Will McMaster) Colton, Kenmore, NY, Erin (Gabe Paone) Colton, Hamburg, NY, Shannon (Anthony Scaparo) Campbell, NJ, a grandson, Dr. Adam Colton, Indiana, PA; 1 great granddaughter, Cora McMaster, Kenmore, NY; 2 brothers, , Hugh Dunne Jr., Salamanca, NY; Jack (Dorothy) Dunn, Summerfield, FL; 3 sisters, Donna Truman, Olean, NY, Mary Lou (James) Smith, Salamanca, NY, Jeanne (William) Poole, Jamestown, NY; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
